This area is located along the back wall of the ARC facing you as you enter the room. It spills over onto the side wall at the back right-hand corner and contains books related to “small picture” local or regional Anglican life. It will be of particular interest to parish congregations and clergy who are active and engaged in various facets of parish life. Labels here are in the yellow to green colour range. Below are brief descriptions of two of the nine subject categories and their letter codes, along with a sample of the labels used for each one.
The label images show the colour for that subject category, with the subject code at top centre. The call number begins with the first letters of the author’s name, followed by the subject code and a number. The number allows the ARC to keep track of the books and resources in the collection.
Some books have no author listed and are shelved by a publisher’s acronym (i.e. ABC for Anglican Book Centre) or Na-/NA-. These books are shelved first in each subject category already uploaded to the ARC website. They are followed by books shelved alphabetically by author.
Administration & Congregations has resources primarily geared to parish administration and the daily life of a Christian community. This includes books on leadership, revitalizing congregations, lay and clergy teamwork, issues around church size, managing church assets, and thriving amidst change. Click here for abstracts and more information.
Adult Education is the only subject area with patterned labels and follows immediately after Administration & Congregations on the shelf. Its resources are there to help adult members of the congregation with creative ways to educate others about the life of the church. Abstracts will be added at a later date.
